Fatal Traffic Collision

January 17, 2024 - Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 5:04 riverside county sheriff logoa.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Bay Avenue in Moreno Valley reference a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Deputies arrived on the scene and located an Isuzu Trooper, which collided with a pedestrian crossing the street. Paramedics from Cal Fire also arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures but ultimately pronounced the pedestrian deceased. The driver of the Isuzu Trooper remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation. It does not appear drugs and/or alcohol played a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation revealed the Isuzu Trooper was traveling southbound on Perris Boulevard when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the street. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The identity of the deceased will not be released pending notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of Perris Boulevard between Cottonwood Avenue and Alessandro Boulevard was required to process the scene and collect evidence.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Jason Slover of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
