January 22, 2024 - Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Riverside Sheriff’s Office Jurupa Valley Station is proud to announce its partnership with the city of Jurupa Valley in securing the Organized Retail Theft Prevention (ORTP) Grant Program. The Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) has awarded the city of Jurupa Valley an impressive grant of $2,219,710 to address the growing concerns of organized motor vehicle and retail thefts within the city limits.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance public safety and safeguard local businesses from the increasing threat of organized theft. To achieve this, the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, in conjunction with the city of Jurupa Valley, will be implementing a comprehensive plan that includes the acquisition and installation of 60 state-of-the-art Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras. These cameras will be strategically placed throughout the city to effectively monitor and track suspicious activities related to motor vehicle and retail theft.
In addition to the ALPR camera deployment, the Jurupa Valley Sheriff Station Special Enforcement Team will be dedicated to investigating and combatting motor vehicle thefts, including cargo and catalytic converter theft within the city. The Special Enforcement Team will consist of highly trained and experienced law enforcement personnel who will work diligently to identify and apprehend individuals involved in organized theft operations.
Additionally, the city of Jurupa Valley will be establishing a Small Business Retail Theft Prevention (SBRTP) Program. The program will aim to empower local businesses at combating organized retail theft by providing training, educational materials, and support to businesses.
The partnership between the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and the city of Jurupa Valley highlights the commitment of both entities to ensure the safety and security of local residents and businesses. By proactively addressing the escalating issues of organized motor vehicle and retail thefts, this joint effort aims to create a safer environment for the community.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and the city of Jurupa Valley are confident that the collaboration and initiatives arising from the ORTP Grant Program will have a lasting positive impact on the community. Together, we are determined to reduce organized motor vehicle and retail thefts, providing a safer and more secure Jurupa Valley for all.
