February 14, 2024 - Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials report that two men are currently in custody after an investigation led to their arrests for a string of murders that occurred over the weekend.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) held a press conference on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, where Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Captain Andrew Meyer announced significant developments in the case of four murders that occurred within 48 hours on February 11th and 12th, 2024, in the cities of Bell, Huntington Park, Cudahy, and the unincorporated area of Los Angeles.
In attendance were Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, 4th District, Captain Brandon Dean, Captain Edmundo Torres, Bell Police Chief Carlos Islas, City Manager Michael Antwine, Bell Mayor Fidencio J. Gallardo, Councilmember Ali Saleh, and Huntington Park Police Department Chief Cosme Lozano, all of which praised the expeditious investigation homicide to investigators have done so far.
During the conference, Captain Meyer reported that through the collaboration of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, Century and East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Stations, the Bell, and Huntington Park Police Department, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff, two alleged gang members were successfully taken into custody in connection with the fatal Southland shootings.
County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who represents the area, hailed the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Department and police investigators for their “round-the-clock’ effort to solve the killings and the collaboration that occurred between agencies.”
This is preliminary information, and the investigation into these incidents is ongoing. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration later this week.
