Deputy-Involved Shooting 

June 9, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:12 a.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to 53^rd Street and Cedar Street, Jurupa Valley, to check the welfare of a male subject who appeared to be bleeding and disoriented. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the male and began to provide medical aid. While the deputy was tending to the male’s medical needs, he produced a knife and began to stab himself. The male charged toward the deputy with the knife, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was struck by gunfire, and deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time. No additional injuries were reported as a result of this incident. The suspect’s identity will not be released at this time.

The deputy involved will be placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. The name of the involved deputy will not be released. Investigators from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Force Investigations Detail will lead this investigation. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
