Assault with a Deadly Weapon 

June 11, 2024 –  Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:20 p.m., deputies from the Lake Mathews RCSO HuffmanSheriff Station responded to the 17000 block of Alameda Drive in the unincorporated area of Riverside County, known as Lake Mathews, regarding a shooting. The reporting party and multiple witnesses stated the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. As deputies arrived on the scene, witnesses advised that the suspect had fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. With assistance from the Riverside Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, an extensive search was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, about 8:30 a.m., the suspect, identified as Ric Paul Huffman, a 53-year-old resident of Lake Mathews, turned himself in at the Robert Presley Detention Center. A search warrant was served at Huffman’s residence, and the firearm that was used in the assault was located.

Huffman was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and a felon in possession of a firearm This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available.
