Fatal Traffic Collision 

July 6, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 5, 2024, at 5:19 p.m., deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station, responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision near Rancho California Road and the Interstate 15 overpass in the city of Temecula.

Accident Investigators from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a Hyundai SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic on Rancho California Road and struck a vehicle head-on, pushing it into a third vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts by deputies and emergency medical personnel at the scene, the driver of the Hyundai did not survive. Two other individuals were transported to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. It has not been determined why the Hyundai crossed into oncoming traffic. It is not believed intoxication played a role in this collision.

The identity of the involved parties will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin.
