Aragon Firearms Arrest

July 27, 2024 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that during the month of June 2024, detectives with the VCSO firearm arrestCamarillo Special Enforcement Unit received information that Abel Aragon, a convicted felon and resident of the City of Camarillo, was in possession of an unregistered firearm.

Detectives with the Special Enforcement Unit obtained a signed search warrant for Aragon, his vehicles, and his residence located on the 100 block of Green Glade Court in the City of Camarillo.

On July 25, 2024, detectives served the search warrant with the assistance of the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit.

During the service of the search warrant service, Aragon was taken into custody.  Detectives located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic “ghost gun” and ammunition.

Aragon was charged with a violation of PC 27545 / Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, PC 29800(a)(1) / Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and PC 30305(a)(1) / Felon in Possession of Ammunition.  Aragon was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail where he was released on a bail bond.

The Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of a sergeant and four detectives, whose focus is assisting patrol services with the investigation of various crimes including, but not limited to, the investigation of illegal firearms, gang related crimes, and graffiti vandalism.

The Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase of unlawful firearm activities in Ventura County, including illegal “ghost guns”. A “ghost gun” is a common term used to describe any firearm manufactured without a serial number engraved or otherwise adorned on its frame/receiver, which is unregistered with the California Department of Justice.
