Sheriff Wayne Woo discusses the case in this video and the implications of Prop 47.

August 8, 2024 โ€“ Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, August 6th the Placer County Sheriffโ€™s Office Detectives took three men, all convicted felons, into custody. One in San Rafael, two in Vallejo. Through great detective work, all three have been connected to the theft of 73 guns from Foothill Firearms in Newcastle.

๐—•๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†: The burglary took place on July 22nd, from 1:22 a.m. until 4:07 a.m. The suspect used a power cutting tool to cut a hole in the side of the business. Once inside, the suspect loaded duffel bags with 73 handguns. Surveillance video from a nearby business showed the suspect being picked up in a light-colored sedan and heading toward I-80.

๐—œ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป: Based on the investigation, 39-year-old Tyrone Brennen of San Rafael was identified as the person believed to have cut the hole to get inside the business and steal the guns. Investigators identified his accomplice as 41-year-old Loren Bingham of Vallejo, who is believed to have served as the lookout and getaway driver.

After identifying the suspects, a no bail Ramey warrant was obtained for Brennen. With the help of the ATF, San Rafael Police Department, Novato Police Department, Central Marin Police Department, and the Placer Special Investigations Unit, warrants were served in both San Rafael and Vallejo on Tuesday, August 6th resulting in the arrest of Brennen and Bingham.

Brennen was found to be in possession of two firearms reported stolen during the burglary, large cutting tools, as well as other specific items from Foothills Firearms which directly tied his involvement to the burglary. He also has a long history of committing commercial burglaries throughout the state by cutting holes in the sides of businesses.

Bingham, a known Norteno gang member, was found to be in possession of a specific item which directly tied his involvement to the burglary, as well as a shotgun and ammunition. He has prior felony convictions for possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft. He had felony warrants for his arrest out of Solano County for robbery, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and two warrants for possession of a controlled substance for sales.

The third person arrested, 57-year-old Richard Nosenzo of Vallejo, was in the same residence as Bingham and was found to be in possession of one of the guns that was stolen in the burglary. Nosenzo has a 1995 felony conviction for escape from jail, three felony convictions for vehicle theft, possession/passing of false checks, grand theft of a firearm, burglary, and possession of stolen property.

All three have been booked into the Placer County Jail.

Brennen is being held on a no bail warrant until his next court date.

Bingham is being held on Placer County charges of grand theft firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, and felon in possession of ammunition.  His bail is set at $100,000.  Bingham also has $330,000 in warrants out of Solano County.

Nosenzo is being held on Placer County charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.  His bail is set at $435,000.
