Homicide Investigation
August 14, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 10:36 p.m.,
deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 24000 block of Bostwick Drive in the city of Moreno Valley for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in a residential community. Upon arrival, deputies located a 30-year-old male, later identified as Gilbert Ramirez of Moreno Valley, suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit (CHU) responded and assumed the investigation. CHU investigators identified Joe Miramontes Jr., a 31-year-old male resident of Moreno Valley (suspect pictured), as the sole suspect in the murder. Miramontes had fled the scene before deputies arrived at the location. An arrest warrant for murder was obtained for Miramontes.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional follow-up is being conducted. No additional details are available for release at this time.
