August 19, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Valley Traffic Detectives (VTD), LAPD logohave arrested the driver involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his 70’s.

On August 15, 2024, around 11:20 p.m., a fatal traffic collision was reported on Ventura Boulevard and Corbin Avenue. A gray Honda Civic was traveling eastbound Ventura Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian who was walking across Ventura Boulevard east of Corbin Avenue. The pedestrian was thrown in an easterly direction before colliding with the roadway. The Honda continued eastbound failing to stop, identify self, or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male pedestrian dead at scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Further investigation led VTD Detectives and West Valley Patrol Officers to locate the hit-and-run driver at his residence. He was detained pending further investigation. The hit-and-run vehicle was located abandoned not far from the scene of the collision.

The suspect driver has been identified as 18-year-old Nathon Jaimes, a resident of Reseda. He was later arrested and booked at Van Nuys Jail for 20001(A) VC-Felony Hit and Run Causing Death, Booking No. 6866465.
