August 21, 2024 – San Diego Police Department officials report that at the Police Department, our focus is on peaceful resolutions. That’s why we’re excited to announce the upgrade to the latest TASER 10 by Axon, designed to enhance our de-escalation efforts and ensure safer outcomes in critical situations.

This new tool uses advanced technology to assist officers in bringing tense situations under control with minimal force. Unlike traditional methods, the TASER 10 offers a greater range of up to 45 feet and a unique 10-probe system, providing multiple chances to safely subdue a threat.

The TASER 10’s low-level pulsed electrical current induces neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI), temporarily disrupting muscle function without causing lasting harm. It’s similar to muscle stimulators used in therapy, delivering a safe and controlled response to potentially dangerous situations.

This upgrade from the current X-26P model, which has a shorter range and requires precise calculation for effective use, marks a great upgrade for officer equipment and public safety.
