Carjacking Arrest in Vista 

August 26, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that this incident occurred on Sunday at about 1:25 a.m. Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 900 block of S. Santa Fe Avenue to investigate a report of a carjacking.  It was reported that five males, armed with handguns, forced the victim out of their car. The victim was not injured during the incident. 

Deputies began a coordinated search of the area and located the vehicle around W. Vista Way and Emerald Drive.  Deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the driver fled, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  The pursuit ended after the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into a small median.  At the time of the collision, the stolen vehicle was occupied by only one suspect.  The suspect, an adult male, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

This is an ongoing investigation and the suspect’s identity is being withheld at this time.
