Attempted Murder Investigation 

August 29, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station responded to the 400 block of West Heald regarding reports of gunshots in the area. Deputies contacted multiple victims who were believed to have been targeted but not struck by the gunfire. While on scene, deputies located evidence of a shooting. The Lake Elsinore Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Region 4 Gang Task Force (GTF) assumed the investigation and identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male juvenile from Lake Elsinore.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., SET and GTF deputies located the suspect area of Ellis Street and Franklin Street in a vehicle. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to yield, so a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, deputies observed the suspect discarding an item near the 400 block of East Franklin Street. The item was recovered and discovered to be a rifle. The suspect ultimately yielded to deputies shortly after discarding the rifle and was taken into custody without incident.

Subsequently, a search warrant was served at a residence in the city of Lake Elsinore, where further evidence was recovered. The suspect was booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall for attempted murder, felony evading, and various weapon-related charges.
