Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision Severely Injures Pedestrian

August 29, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that South Traffic Division detectives seek the public’s help identifying the suspect responsible for a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 41-year-old man severely injured.

LAPD hit n run
On May 15, 2024, around 8:30 p.m., a male pedestrian was crossing the street at the intersection of 65th Place and Western Avenue when he was struck by a black sedan that was traveling northbound on Western Avenue. The driver of the vehicle continued northbound Western Avenue and failed to remain at scene, identify themselves, or render aid to the pedestrian as required by law.

The driver’s side mirror that was recovered at scene possibly matches a 2016-2022 Chevrolet Malibu.

The Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital with severe injuries.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a traffic collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene as required by law.
