Fatal Traffic Collision 

August 29, 2024 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on August 26, 2024, at approximately 4:26 P.M. (1626 hours), deputies responded to the area of Olsen Road, just west of Hardy Lane reference an injury traffic collision.  Upon arrival, it was determined a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle at a high rate of speed in the number one lane.  After the collision, the vehicle continued onto the center median and collided with a tree.  After hitting the tree, the vehicle spun back onto the roadway, where it came to rest.  The other vehicle was pushed forward after the impact and was located over 500 feet down the roadway to the west.

Paramedics and Firefighters responded to the scene and performed life saving measures on the driver of one of the vehicles.  The driver that initially caused the collision was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  The other driver was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries and was later released.  The cause of this collision is still under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau.

Next of kin notification was made by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.  The decedent was identified as 77-year-old Bob Frank Ferguson of Simi Valley.  Anyone who witnessed or has any additional information about the collision is encouraged to contact Senior Deputy Moreno at (805) 494-8271 or marcos.moreno@ventura.org.
