Central Station Arson Suspect Arrested 

August 30, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that on August 26, 2024, around 7:15 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division officers were made aware of a fire outside the front station door. The front desk officer and Watch Commander responded to the front of the station and the fire was immediately contained, with no injuries sustained during the incident. Further review of surveillance video captured the suspect lighting an object near the front door of the station. Officers canvassed the immediate vicinity and located the suspect responsible for igniting the fire and placed him under arrest.

37-year-old Dimitrios Vlahopouliotis was arrested for 451(c) PC: Arson, and an outstanding felony warrant for 451(d) PC: Arson. Vlahopouliotis was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center with booking number 6872600 and $110,000 bail.

On August 28, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of 451(c) PC: Arson of a Structure on Vlahopouliotis.
