Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested
September 5, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, August 4, 2024, deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 27000 block of Barcelona Drive in Temescal Valley regarding a past battery incident. When deputies arrived, they contacted the victim, who had suffered significant trauma, and had her transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station assumed the investigation.
Investigators learned the suspect and the victim met on social media. On the day of the incident, the suspect picked up the victim from her residence and drove her to the remote area of Mountain Road and Horsethief Canyon Road in Temescal Valley, where he assaulted her and struck her with a glass bottle. During the course of the investigation, they identified the suspect as 24-year-old Gabriel Ray Hernandez, a resident of Highland. On August 26, 2024, investigators located Hernandez on Arrowhead Avenue in the city of San Bernardino and took him into custody. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted murder and felony assault.
