Suspects Arrested in Temecula Hidden Camera Investigation

September 5, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 6:42 p.m., riverside county sheriff logoSouthwest Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a suspicious device call in the 42000 block of Drennon Court, Temecula. The Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team also responded and determined the device was not explosive but contained improvised video recording components. The Southwest Station Investigation Bureau assumed the case. Investigators networked with other local officers and federal agents to conduct an extensive investigation into the suspects responsible for staging the devices. Investigators determined four suspects conspired to covertly place the devices with the intent to commit burglary.

On September 3, 2024, the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and the Southwest Station Investigation Bureau served a search warrant in the 500 block of Catalina Avenue, Los Angeles, where three of the suspects were taken into custody. The three Colombian Nationals were identified as 28-year-old Hames Lopez-Granados, 38-year-old Dany Alejandro Aponte-Abaunza, and 27-year-old Jonathan Sierra-Rincon, who were booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for conspiracy and burglary.

This is an ongoing investigation, and investigators are still working to identify the fourth suspect in this case. No additional details are available, but investigators encourage anyone with information to contact Lead Investigator Angel Gasparini at the Southwest Sheriff’s Station at (951) 696-3000.
