Grand Theft Suspects Arrested

September 11, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that in May 2024, the Perris Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery riverside county sheriff logoBurglary Suppression Team (RBST) began investigating a crew stealing air conditioning units from various new construction home sites throughout Southern California. During the investigation, deputies determined that the suspects transported the stolen air conditioning units to the city of Van Nuys and sold them.

Perris RBST coordinated efforts with the Riverside and Los Angeles Police Departments and the Orange County and San Diego Sheriff’s Departments to develop leads in the case. Perris RBST served search warrants in the 7000 block of Woodley Avenue in Van Nuys and the 10000 block of Gramercy Place in the city of Riverside, where several stolen air conditioning units worth over $50,000 were recovered.

RBST identified 41-year-old Pedro Perez Gomez and 43-year-old Jose Servin Perez, both residents of Santa Ana, along with 51-year-old Santiago Garcia, a resident of Riverside, and 58-year-old Armando Lopez, a resident of Garden Grove, as the four suspects involved in the thefts. Armando Lopez was already in custody in Orange County for unrelated charges. Additional charges of grand theft, conspiracy, and vandalism will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office. During the investigation, Perris RBST, with the assistance of the Orange County Probation Office, arrested Santiago Garcia, Pedro Gomez, and Jose Perez. They were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for grand theft, conspiracy, and vandalism. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call the Robbery Burglary Suppression Team’s Deputy Sanchez at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099 or the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.
