September 12, 2024 – San Diego Police Department officials report that over the past two days, the San Diego Police Department has investigated numerous school threats that have originated from various sources. The threats were made to elementary, middle, and high schools across San Diego. Many of these threats have been repeated and reposted multiple times. Currently, there is no substantiated threat.

State and Federal officials began looking into the most recent threats immediately. The San Diego Police Department has been in communication with our law enforcement partners, sharing information and investigating the threats. Numerous local schools were notified, and those schools took additional precautions and initiated their threat protocols. The San Diego Police Department added additional patrol officers to the schools where threats were received to ensure public safety.

Many of these threats were vague and contained no specific information. The San Diego Police Department has also learned there has been an increase in school shooting threats across the country. A form of these threats has involved online posts of “school hit lists” with school names and dates that are constantly changing. Any threats are always taken seriously and investigated completely.

The San Diego Police Department continues to investigate these threats. Parents, students, or anyone with information regarding a school threat are asked to contact San Diego County Crimestoppers at (888) 580-8477 or call SDPD at (619) 531-2000.
