Deputies Respond to Residence in Yucca Valley and Locate a Deceased Male 

September 16, 2024 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Friday, September 13, 2024, at about 7:00 p.m., deputies, along with emergency medical personnel responded to a residence on 29 Palms Highway for a medical aid call.  When they arrived, they located the victim, James Boutwell, inside the home and he was pronounced deceased.  Investigators determined Boutwell was a victim of a violent assault.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.  The suspect(s) has not been identified and remains at large.
