Update: Hit-And-Run in San Marcos
September 20, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the pickup truck believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a teenager riding an e-bike in San Marcos has been located.
On Thursday, September 19, just before 4:00 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Rancheros Drive.
Acting on an anonymous tip, deputies searched the property and found the 2021 white GMC Sierra pickup truck believed to have been involved in the September 17 collision. Attempts had been made to conceal damage to the truck. Upon closer inspection, the damage matched the debris left behind at the scene of the collision.
The truck was impounded as evidence. Additional evidence was also obtained from the home and must still be processed.
The teenager injured in the collision suffered major injuries and remains in critical condition at the hospital.
Traffic Investigators from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station continue their investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.
