Train Collision in San Diego
September 22, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that an investigation is underway after a deadly train collision occurred in the city of San Diego.
It happened on Friday, September 20th, at approximately 10:25 p.m., near the 2600 block of Moreno Boulevard in the city of San Diego. When San Diego Police and Fire personnel arrived, they found a man who was hit by a North County Transit District Coaster train. The male did not survive his injuries.
The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU) investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District. The Sheriff's TEU was requested to investigate.
The Medical Examiner's Office will make an identification of the man, as well as determine cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
