Fatal Hit-and-Run by Two Vehicles Leaves Bicyclist Dead 

September 23, 2024 – Northridge, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the Valley Traffic Division Detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his early 50’s.

On September 19, 2024, around 9:15 p.m., a bicyclist was traveling northbound Lindley Avenue at Napa Street. A gray Honda was traveling northbound Lindley Avenue when the vehicle collided with the bicyclist, causing him to be thrown off his bicycle and onto the roadway. Following the first collision, a gray pickup truck traveling northbound also struck the bicyclist. The drivers of both vehicles failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid, as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the bicyclist deceased. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
