LADA’s National Campus Safety Month consent campaign includes billboards and bus stop ads near LA’s largest college campuses to prevent sexual violence.

September 24, 2024 – LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday announced a public service campaign to educate Angelenos on sexual assault and the legal and ethical requirements for consent in recognition of National Campus Safety Month. The office’s multimedia campaign includes social media, billboards, and bus stop ads near LA’s largest college campuses as part of a comprehensive approach to combatting sexual violence through prevention, education, and prosecution.

"As your District Attorney, I am dedicated to fighting for justice for survivors and advocating for a future free from sexual violence," said District Attorney Gascón. “Every case we prosecute is unique, but one theme comes up again and again: consent. Our new campaign aims to dispel the harmful myth that silence implies consent, as this misconception perpetuates a culture of victim-blaming and impunity for offenders.”

The billboards and bus stop ads (pictured above) can be found throughout LA County near major college campuses and in areas students frequent. The visuals will also be shared to social media.

“Advocating for consent goes hand in hand with holding those who don’t respect consent accountable, and we will not tolerate sexual violence in our community,” DA Gascón said. “Under my tenure, we centralized our sex crimes prosecutions and now have 54 specialized prosecutors, ensuring that each case receives dedicated attention and prosecutors are trained in trauma-informed practices.”

Additionally, LADA’s Bureau of Victim Services provides needed support to survivors of sexual violence throughout the legal process. To request victim services, please contact (800) 380-3811.
