Multi-agency Pursuit Ends in Gunfight, Man Deceased
September 26, 2024 – Marysville, CA – Yuba County Sheriff's Department officials report that on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a truck on Marysville Road near Shadowbrook Trail in Browns Valley. The driver failed to stop and led deputies on a pursuit that lasted approximately 30 minutes. The Yuba City Police Department assisted with the pursuit. The truck became disabled and stopped near the 2600 block of Highway 20, north of Marysville. Preliminary evidence suggests that just before 11:00 p.m., the driver of the truck fired shots from his truck. Multiple officers fired their duty weapons during the ensuing gunfight. The driver was declared deceased at the scene. No deputies or officers were injured.
The identification of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
The incident is being investigated by the Yuba-Sutter Officer-Involved-Shooting & Critical Incident Investigation Team. The Team is led by the Chief Investigators of the Yuba and Sutter County District Attorneys' Offices and is made up of experienced law enforcement officers from all the law enforcement agencies in Yuba and Sutter Counties.
