Teaming Up to Help After RV Fire
October 1, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that earlier this month, an elderly couple traveling from Arizona found themselves in a tough situation when their RV caught fire in North Auburn near Bell Road & Haines Road. Thankfully, they were able to get out safely, but they had no local resources or family to turn to.
But in Placer County, we don’t leave people hanging. Our Deputies along with CAL FIRE NEU, AMR and American Red Cross California Gold Country Region quickly came together to support the couple. The Red Cross provided hotel vouchers, Springhill Suites offered a deeply discounted room, an oxygen machine for the wife was delivered to their hotel, and even dinner was arranged.
The couple, who were understandably shaken, expressed their deep gratitude for all the help and support they received.
This is what community is all about helping one another in times of need. A huge thank you to all of the partners involved in making sure this couple had everything they needed during a difficult time.
