October 3, 2024 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 8:22 p.m., an adult male inmate at West Valley Detention San Bernardino County Sheriff logoCenter was found to be unresponsive in his housing unit. Deputies and facility medical personnel provided medical aid and emergency medical personnel from Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and AMR responded. Despite life saving measures, the male was pronounced deceased.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. No signs of foul play were detected during the initial investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
