Lethal Force Encounter Occurs When Deputies in San Bernardino Find Man with a Knife
October 5, 2024 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at about 4:29 p.m., deputies from the Central Station responded to a residence in the 26300 block of Snowden Avenue, in Loma Linda, for an unknown problem. When the first deputy arrived, he encountered a male subject, identified as Edward Jensen Dass, holding a knife. The deputy made several commands for Dass to drop the knife while backing away from Dass. Dass continued toward the deputy and a lethal force encounter occurred. Deputies performed lifesaving measures; however, Dass was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. Dass was transported to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.
