October 5, 2024 – Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday October 1st, 2024, North County deputies responded to a residence on Highway 111, in Niland, CA. for reports of a possible burglary and theft of items from a residential property. A representative with the Imperial County Public Administrator’s Office informed deputies that the residence appeared to have been burglarized and a farm tractor had been stolen from the property.
Tire impressions were followed west from the property in question to neighboring properties on Luna and Nieto Roads. The stolen tractor was located at a property on Nieto Road and was being crudely concealed under a tarp. The tractor was being painted a different color in further attempts to conceal it. A total of 3 individuals were detained at the property on Nieto Road and transported for questioning at the Niland Sheriff’s Sub-station.
After further investigation, it was deemed that one of the detained individuals and another outstanding suspect had stolen the tractor from the property and stored it on Nieto Road. The suspect was placed under arrest for the theft of the tractor and transported to the Imperial County Jail. At the time of this release, the second suspect is still outstanding and deputies are working diligently to apprehend the suspect.
