Fatal Hit-and-Run Leaves One Dead

October 11, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a 45-year-old man.

On July 19, 2024, around 11:35 p.m., the victim was crossing Venice Boulevard at Oak Street. A dark-colored Honda Accord traveling eastbound Venice Boulevard collided into the pedestrian. The Honda Accord fled the scene without stopping to render aid and identify him or herself.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

We would like to remind everybody when involved in a traffic crash to stop and check on the other parties, make sure they are not injured, call 9-1-1 if they need medical attention, and to exchange information. Don’t convert a traffic crash into a crime.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and
created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2002 to 2007 grey Honda Accord with oxidized paint, black hub caps, and blue dim lights.
