October 12, 2024 – LOS ANGELES – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are CDCR Justin Gutierrezseeking a person who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility in Los Angels County on Friday, October 11, 2024.

At about 7:40 p.m., officials were alerted that incarcerated person Justin Gutierrez had walked out of an MCRP facility after an alert was received regarding the removal of an ankle monitor. CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting in the search.

Justin Gutierrez, 32, is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has hazel eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans.

On April 15, 2020, Gutierrez was sentenced to three years for second-degree robbery. Gutierrez was released to parole supervision on June 13, 2005, after serving his full sentence as required by law. Gutierrez was received from Los Angels County on July 20, 2023, to serve six years for robbery, as a second striker, to be served concurrently to his first offense. He has been housed at MCRP Los Angeles County since August 22, 2024.

Anyone who sees Gutierrez or has knowledge of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement or call 9-1-1.

The MCRP allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for male offenders who have two years of less left to serve. The program links offenders to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
