CAL FIRE Reports Success of Prescribed Burn at the Gore Ranch in June 2024 - Part of a 10-Year Effort 

October 14, 2024 – CAL FIRE officials report that in June 2024, the Gore Ranch Vegetation Management Project (VMP), in partnership with the McConnell Foundation, made significant progress in both preventing wildfires and continuing work to keep our communities safe.

The group was able to successfully conduct a prescribed burn on 590 acres, part of a 10-year effort to return low-intensity fire back to the landscape for long-term resilience.

Thanks to these efforts, an unplanned wildfire during critical weather conditions this summer was kept to just 6 acres, demonstrating the power of proactive fuels management!
