West Los Angeles Attempted Murder and Robbery
October 20, 2024 – West Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that on 
September 13, 2024, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division (RHD) responded to an Attempt Robbery with Shots Fired at the 11400 block of North Thurston Circle in the West Los Angeles Area.
The victim, and his wife were confronted in the driveway of their home by multiple armed suspects, who demanded property from them. During the robbery attempt, the suspect(s) shot at the victim, striking him in the head. The suspects then ran to an awaiting vehicle and fled the scene. Aguilar was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. One of the suspects, later identified as Mario Melara, was critically wounded during the incident. He later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
On October 10, 2024, Jason Melara, Daymonee Johnson, and Mahki Taylor were arrested in Northern California in connection to this incident.
On October 15, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony charges against all three suspects, to include Murder, Attempt Murder, Attempt Robbery, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
