Mail Theft Suspect Arrested
October 25, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., a citizen contacted the Riverside Sheriff’s Office after witnessing a female adult tampering with a community mailbox on Sandy Plains Drive in the unincorporated area of Perris known as Nuevo. The female fled the location, but the citizen provided a description of the vehicle for the suspect. Deputies began canvassing the Nuevo area, eventually locating the suspect driving the same vehicle. During an enforcement stop, the driver, identified as Kristen Starnes, a 42-year-old resident of Romoland, was found to be in possession of a large quantity of stolen mail.
During the investigation, stolen mail belonging to over 50 individuals from the Nuevo community and city of Menifee was recovered. Kristen Starnes was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for vandalism, identity theft, and multiple additional charges. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available.
