November 2, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 8:57 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Station were dispatched to the 24000 block of Dracaea Avenue, in the city of Moreno Valley, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies located 45-year-old Ralph Ortega of Moreno Valley suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Ortega was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Responding deputies secured the scene and requested the Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit respond.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and is working to identify the suspect (s) involved. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
