Suspect Arrested for Soliciting a Minor and Kidnapping an Adult Female
November 9, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on October 31, 2024, at 4:47 p.m., the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station received a call regarding a male suspect following a 17-year-old female student as she walked home from a high school in Moreno Valley. It was reported the suspect was photographing the female and offering her a ride as he followed her. Deputies arrived and spoke with the victim but were unable to locate the male suspect.
On November 1, 2024, at 4:09 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the report of an adult male who had solicited a lewd act from a 12-year-old female juvenile in the city of Moreno Valley. It was determined the male was known to the victim. During the investigation, deputies determined the male was the same suspect from the incident the day prior. Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation and identified a third incident involving the same suspect. The victim of the third incident, an adult female, told investigators on November 1, 2024, at 8:12 p.m., as she rode her scooter in the city of Jurupa Valley, the male suspect offered her a ride. When she refused the ride, he grabbed her arm and pulled her towards his vehicle, but she was able to break free. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station investigators identified the suspect as Brian Vaughn (pictured), a 36-year-old resident of Jurupa Valley.
On November 6, 2024, Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station investigators served a search warrant at Vaughn’s residence in the 3900 block of Hawk Drive, Jurupa Valley, where he was taken into custody without incident. Vaughn was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for contacting a minor to commit a felony, annoying or molesting a minor, and kidnapping. Vaughn is being held on $1,000,000 bail. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available.
