Bicyclist in Bellflower Arrested for Possession of Meth
November 11, 2024 – Lakewood Sheriff's Station officials report that on Saturday morning, Bellflower deputies saw a bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the road, which is a violation of CA vehicle code 21650. When the deputies stopped him, the rider told him he had a gun in his possession. The deputies detained and searched the rider and determined he did not have a gun, but he did have a bag with meth.
The rider (resident of Long Beach) was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at Lakewood Station jail; his bike was stored at the jail and will be returned to him when he gets released.
Generally, law-abiding citizens, as well as criminals, increasingly use bicycles for transportation. Those riding bicycles on the streets or highways are subject to the same rules of the road as motor vehicles.
Lakewood Deputies enforce all applicable laws 24/7 to keep the community safe.
Be safe everyone!
