Amanda Leeann Porter is Charged with Impersonating a Nurse and Treating Patients Since March 2024
November 16, 2024 – BURBANK, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on Friday that Amanda Leeann Porter is charged with stealing the identity of and impersonating an out-of-state nurse at a Burbank medical center beginning in March 2024. Porter also is accused of collecting wages during this time.
"Ms. Porter’s alleged actions are deeply troubling and egregious as she deceived patients and medical professionals alike, betraying the trust of those who rely on our medical community in their most vulnerable time of need," District Attorney Gascón said. "We acknowledge the profound distress that this situation may have caused those who were treated by the defendant. Our office will work relentlessly to hold this individual accountable and ensure that justice is served."
Amanda Leeann Porter (44) is charged in case 24BBCF00327 with one felony count of unauthorized use of personal identifying information; one felony count of false personation; and one felony count of grand theft.
It is further alleged that Porter carried out the offenses with planning, sophistication, and professionalism. It also is alleged that Porter took advantage of a position of trust and confidence to commit the offenses.
Porter pleaded not guilty to all charges on November 13. A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for December 2 in Dept. 1 of the Burbank Courthouse.
If convicted as charged, Porter faces a maximum sentence of three years and eight months in state prison.
The case is being investigated by the Burbank Police Department.
