If convicted as charged, Maurice Latorre faces 12 years and 4 months in prison 

November 19, 2024 – LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on Monday that Maurice Latorre has been charged in three counts of attempted carjacking in Lincoln Heights and Boyle Heights, allegedly committed on the same day, Nov. 9.

“We condemn these violent acts targeting individuals simply going about their daily lives and remain committed to removing dangerous offenders from our streets,” District Attorney Gascón said. “I want to express my deepest sympathy to the victims of these terrifying crimes. I also want to thank the Los Angeles Police Department for working swiftly and thoroughly to investigate these incidents, which led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect.”

Maurice Latorre (51) is charged with three felony counts of attempted carjacking in case 24CJCF07127.

Latorre is being held in lieu of $375,000 bail. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum of 12 years and 4 months in state prison. His arraignment is set for today, Dept. 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Latorre was in the hospital for an unrelated incident when he was identified and arrested.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
