November 22, 2024 – Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Deputies have arrested a suspect in Moss Landing after he stabbed a victim who was skateboarding down the 100 block of Bluff Road in Moss Landing.
At about 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday November 20th, 2024, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 100 block of Bluff Road in Moss Landing for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim who told them he had been skateboarding in the area of Trafton Road and Bluff Road when he was stabbed by a subject known to live in the area. The victim sustained wounds consistent with being stabbed with what was described to be a long bolt-type piece of metal. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was reported to have fled the scene last seen riding a bicycle. Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to identify the suspect based on information provided by the victim and residents in the area. He was identified as 24-year-old Jose Luis Martinez Leonor of Moss Landing. Attempts to locate him were made but he was not found.
About 8:20 P.M., deputies received a call from an individual reporting that Martinez Leonor was knocking on his door along the 100 block of Bluff Road. Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies responded. Martinez Leonor was contacted at his residence and taken into custody without incident.
Jose Luis Martinez Leonor was transported to the Monterey County Jail where he was booked for Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His bail is set at $1,030,000.00.
