Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver 

December 9, 2024 – Canoga Park, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Valley Traffic Detectives (VTD) are LAPD logoinvestigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his early 40’s.

On December 06, 2024, around 5:15 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing westbound De Soto Avenue, just north of Gresham Street. A grey or silver vehicle was traveling southbound on De Soto Avenue when it struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, remain at scene, and render aid, as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at scene. The pedestrian a Black male, in his early 40’s a resident of Canoga Park. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

VTD detectives are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this fatal hit and run. There was a lot of traffic in the area of De Soto Avenue and Gresham Street at the time of the collision. If you witnessed the collision, please contact VTD Detectives.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
