Sending Harmful Matter to a Minor Arrest
December 12, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the Riverside County
Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau received a tip regarding possible crimes committed by Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Russo, assigned to the Coordinated Custody Management Unit within the Corrections Division. During the investigation, an undercover investigator communicated electronically with Russo while posing as a 15-year-old minor. During these conversations, Russo shared explicit material and communicated his intent to meet with the supposed minor to engage in sexual acts.
On December 11, 2024, Russo was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for sending harmful matter to a minor and attempting to meet a minor for sexual acts. Anthony Russo resigned from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released.
