BB Gun Incident in Lemon Grove 

December 18, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that a 14-year-old juvenile has been questioned on suspicion san diego county sheriff department logoof bringing a replica firearm to an East County magnet school.

On Friday, December 13, just before 2:00 p.m., Lemon Grove Academy Middle School students observed another student with a firearm in his backpack.

However, the incident was not reported to school staff until Monday, December 16. Once they were notified, school administrators immediately contacted the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation.

During the preliminary investigation, Sheriff's Detectives contacted the student and their parents. The firearm turned out to be a plastic BB gun that the student showed to classmates. The BB gun was seized without incident.

The investigation found there are no known threats to Lemon Grove Academy Middle School students at this time.

It is the policy of the San Diego County Sheriff's Office not to release information about minors. The investigation is ongoing.

The safety of our school children is a priority for the Sheriff's Office. We take all threats seriously.
