Homicide Investigation
December 21, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on December 19, 2024, at 11:28 a.m., deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon call at a mobile home park located in the 14800 block of Perris Blvd., Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, deputies located an unresponsive female suffering from traumatic injuries. The female, identified as Veronica De La Luz, a 52-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was pronounced deceased on scene. Deputies secured the scene, and the Central Homicide Unit was requested to respond and assume the investigation.
During the investigation, deputies were directed to a separate mobile home where the suspect was located. The suspect, later identified as Giovanni Farias, a 28-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was detained without incident. The suspect and victim are related, and the incident appears to have resulted from a family dispute. Farias was later arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder.
