Fatal Traffic Collision
December 25, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on December 23, 2024, at 6:38 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the intersection of Ramona Expressway and North Perris Boulevard, Perris, regarding a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Deputies arrived on the scene and located the pedestrian unresponsive with major injuries in the eastbound lanes of Ramona Expressway. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to the injuries sustained during the collision. The driver of the vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz SUV, remained at the scene and cooperated during the investigation.
The Perris Station Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the SUV was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway approaching North Perris Boulevard. As the vehicle crossed through the intersection, it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this collision. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available.
The identity of the deceased will not be released pending notification to the next of kin. To process the scene and collect evidence, Ramona Expressway between North Perris Boulevard and Ramona Crossings was temporarily closed.
