Daniel Rodriguez is charged with murdering 17-year-old Angelina Gonzales on December 20 in the city of Azusa
December 25, 2024 – AZUSA, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced today that Daniel Rodriguez, 18, is charged with murdering 17-year-old Angelina Gonzales at his home in the city of Azusa on December 20.
“I want to express my deepest condolences to Angelina Gonzales’s loved ones as they navigate this senseless act of violence and unimaginable grief, especially during this holiday season,” District Attorney Hochman stated. “Our office’s Family Violence Division will work to bring the offender to justice for the victim and her family.”
Daniel Rodriguez is charged in case 24PSCF00827 with one count of murder for allegedly stabbing Ms. Gonzales at his home in Azusa.
Arraignment was continued to January 8 in Department N of the Pomona Courthouse. The court set bail at $2,020,000.
If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison plus one year determinate.
The case is being prosecuted by the office’s Family Violence Division’s Deputy District Attorney Brittany Saleeby and investigated by the Azusa Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau.
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
