Homicide Investigation 

December 30, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 23, 2024, at 11:57 p.m., deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff's Station were dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 2500 block of Spectacular Bid Street, Perris. Upon arriving in the area, deputies located an adult male, identified as Rene Diaz, a 42-year-old from Elsinore, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid and requested paramedics to the scene. Diaz was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment, where he remained in critical condition. On December 29, 2024, Diaz succumbed to his injuries.

The Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit assumed this investigation, and at this time, no suspects are in custody. Due to this being an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
