Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Vista
January 10, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a man has been arrested on suspicion of firing a less lethal rubber bullet gun at a vehicle during a road rage incident in Vista.
On December 28, 2024, a driver later identified as Kyle Macpherson (36) opened fire at the victim's vehicle near the intersection of North Melrose Drive and West Bobier Drive. No one was hurt, but the vehicle sustained more than $1,400 in damage.
After a thorough investigation, detectives from the Vista Sheriff's Station were able to obtain a search warrant and Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) for Macpherson.
On Thursday, January 9 around 6:00 a.m., detectives stopped Macpherson in his car as he left his home in the 600 block of Ascot Drive.
Two less lethal handguns, a Billy Club and ammunition were found and seized from the car.
A search of Macpherson's home led to the discovery of 13 firearms and more than a thousand rounds of ammunition.
Macpherson was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on numerous charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a Billy Club and felony vandalism.
