Deputies Respond to Disturbance at a Residence and a Lethal Force Encounter Occurred 

January 19, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Friday, January 17, 2025, at San Bernardino County Sheriff logoabout 5:40 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a man with a gun at a residence in the 14800 block of Steeplechase Road, in Victorville.  A deputy arrived at the location and learned Lawrence Harris was armed with a firearm and had threatened family members. When the deputy entered the residence, he found Harris armed with a handgun.  Harris refused commands to drop the gun and threatened the deputy with the firearm.  A lethal force encounter occurred, and Harris was struck by gunfire.  Harris was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.  

The Specialized Investigations Division also responded and assumed the investigation.  The case is ongoing, and no further details are being released.
